Success. Downtime was 12 minutes.
On Tuesday 21/03/17 Enlighten Email will have a Security "SSL" certificate Updated. This will have no effect on most customers, but it is possible that some email client software will need to be configured to trust the new certificate.
If you do experience problems, depending on your software, simply accepting the changed certificate will likely correct any issues experienced.
Web-mail will continue to function, (https://mail.enlightenhosting.com) as a fallback should that be required.
on Sunday 19/11/17 at 10PM NZST, the database server used to store user credentials for email services will be changed.
No outage is expected, however there is a small possibility that transient email authentication or Groupware related issues arise. Please create a Helpdesk query should you experience issues that last more than 30 minutes.
Today is patch Tuesday, so - as always- there may be some small downtime as our hosting servers and systems are patched, beginning 10Pm this evening.
Hello. This just came in from our upstream provider.
SCHEDULED UPGRADES HAPPENING OVERNIGHT.
We're bringing forward some planned network upgrades due to an intermittent fault condition we are seeing within our network that may have affected some of the services we provide to you. We saw the first signs of this last Wednesday and then again this morning, so we are prioritising the fix to minimise further potential losses of service.
The fix process will commence at 2am on Tuesday 14 August.
While the network upgrades are taking place, we expect all core network links to remain in service. However, customers who have voice or data services traversing or terminating via one of our core routers in Mayoral Drive (CPCAK-MDR-R1) will experience 2 x 5 minute breaks to service between 2am and 3am, and a potential loss of service up for to 30 minutes - depending on how long it takes your specific equipment to get back up and running.
These brief outages will happen as the upgrades are applied and your services are switched to alternate network paths.
This work is being completed by our core network engineers who will be working in conjunction with our vendor to perform these software upgrades.
While these upgrade works are vital in ensuring our ability to provide a quality connectivity service, we acknowledge there may be a disruption to your organisation. We apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused, and will do everything we can to ensure the upgrade is completed as quickly as possible.
SCHEDULED ELECTRICAL WORKS: 9 OCTOBER.
The Data Centre requires a calibration of the A Power System. This work means there is heightened potential for an outage to the A Power System, that could impact the electrical supply.
We are doing everything possible to prevent an outage.
THE DETAILS.
What's happening?
Electrical calibration work must be performed on the A Power System at the Vocus Albany Data Centre, which requires us to disable both mains power and our generator backup power system, for the duration of the works.
We have prepared a solution to provide continued electricity to the A Power System during the electrical work. This solution has been worked on for many months with our electricians, UPS, and generator consultants, however, due to the complexity of this solution we recommend you prepare a contingency plan for possible disruption of power to your rack space.
When is it happening?
The work is scheduled for 0:00am - 6:00am on Tuesday, 9 October 2018.
Will it impact my organisation?
While we are doing everything possible to prevent an outage, this electrical work may impact the power to your servers. Should an outage to the A Power Supply occur, we expect a period of no electrical supply for up to 90 minutes.
The maintenance was a success, and there was no downtime,
It’s Patch Tuesday, so basic OS patches will be applied to Hosting this evening as usual. Mostly this consists of the March Cumulative update (KB4540670) and the service stack update (KB4540723)
Redundant servers will be patched during the day.
Servers must be be rebooted as part of this patching.
Please note that I’m also planning a special patch next week on Tuesday related to a Hosting Platform update. More details will follow.

Tomorrow evening (10-PM NZT) I will be enlarging the disk used by our mail services, for this reason mail delivery may be delayed, and mail services may become unavailable for a short period as this must occur offline.

HAZARD WARNING, MAINTENANCE WINDOW 10PM TUESDAY 22 SEPTEMBER
This is a hazard warning for Enlighten Hosting services.
As part of general maintenance, some actions need to be taken within the Enlighten Hosting Infrastructure. This will occur during the maintenance window starting at 10PM Tuesday 22 September 2020.
1) Firewall software updates need to be applied, which may result in a short period of downtime.
2) A RAID controller battery needs to be replaced. This is not expected to result in downtime as the RAID controllers are redundant; however this is a hazard warning.
Additionally, during the day on the Tuesday 22 September site and system performance may be reduced as we prepare for these changes.
HAZARD WARNING, MAINTENANCE WINDOW 8PM SATURDAY 10 OCTOBER
This is a hazard warning for Enlighten Hosting services.
As part of general maintenance, some actions need to be taken within the Enlighten Hosting Infrastructure. This will occur 8 PM Saturday 10 October 2020.
1) Update web platform software on server NORRIN.
Additionally, during the day on the Saturday 10 October site and system performance may be reduced as we prepare for these changes.
HAZARD WARNING, MAINTENANCE WINDOW 8PM WEDNESDAY 28 OCTOBER
This is a hazard warning for Enlighten Hosting services.
As part of general maintenance, some actions need to be taken within the Enlighten Hosting Infrastructure. This will occur 2 PM Wednesday 28 October 2020.
1) Replace faulty redundant RAID controller hardware.
No Downtime of any service is foreseen, this is a hazard warning only.
OUTAGE WARNING, MAINTENANCE WINDOW 10PM SATURDAY 16 JANUARY
This is an outage warning for Enlighten Hosting services.
As part of refreshing our hardware and to resolve some current issues affecting redundancy in our network, some actions need to be taken within the Enlighten Hosting Infrastructure. This will occur 10 PM Saturday 16 January 2021.
1) We will be installing some new infrastructure inside all of our existing hardware to replace a part of some existing faulty equipment.
We foresee around 20 minutes outage while this hardware is installed and the physical servers are restarted. This outage will impact all services including DNS, Email and Web Servers.
UNSCHEDULED OUTAGE.
Today between 1:15PM and 3:15PM there was an unscheduled outage of Enlighten hosting services. This was caused by a network outage from an upstream provider. The services should now be operational again. Further information will follow.
Scheduled Server upgrade: Email
This week on Patch Tuesday (Tuesday 21 September, from 10PM), we are applying software upgrades to the primary hosted email server - Mail.enlightenhosting.com
This means the server may be offline for some time, and there may be some minor issues after patching that need to be addressed.
It also means that the look and feel of the server may change, especially the webmail, which is receiving some significant changes and improvements.

Good Morning. There was an unexpected Outage of Enlighten Hosted services, beginning at around 3:07AM this morning. We are currently still bringing services back online.
All Services were restored by 7:30AM.
Last Wednesday, we had an outage event in Enlighten Hosting caused by an issue related to the Storage Area Network or SAN.
As a result, we have decided to bring forward an already planned update to some Firmware components of the SAN.
Unfortunately, we need to bring the SAN down to process these updates. We have therefore scheduled a special maintenance window for the Enlighten Hosting environment starting next Tuesday (19 December) Evening at 10PM. The operation is planned to complete by 12AM.
During this time, most Hosting and other services provided by Enlighten Hosting will be offline. This includes all websites, portals, and database services.

Enlighten Hosting has been affected by the recent global server issue with EDR systems. We have taken mitigation actions, and all systems from Enlighten Hosting, Enlighten Domains, and Enlighten Email have been restored.

You may be aware of the recent Global outages caused by the CrowdStrike Falcon software. Enlighten Hosting is a user of this software, and took immediate action to disable this platform when the issues began.
Now that the underlying issues are resolved, we must re-enable the platform to re-establish the important protection of systems and data it provides.. This requires a restart of the servers, and therefore there will be a short period of downtime for each system this evening starting sometime after 10PM today. This impacts the windows server systems only.
